Academics

Our faculty and staff promote creative thinking and a positive self-concept among students, enabling them to develop a life-long love of learning.  Teachers utilize technology in classroom instruction to enhance student experiences.  Accelerated academic courses are offered to our junior high students and resource staff offer support so that all students may reach their full potential.

The core curriculum is established by the Diocese of St. Augustine and meets all Sunshine State Standards.  Students are challenged in the classroom to think critically and to utilize their personal strengths to reach their goals.  Our innovative teachers allow their students to engage in a variety of projects and experiences.

  • Eighth grade students continue publishing the stories of Molly the Dog to bring social lessons to schools in our diocese.
  • Students from kindergarten to eighth grade write, illustrate, and publish stories reflecting classroom studies.
  • Students write, perform and film their own plays to represent a unit of study and share the recorded movies with other classes.
  • Engaging debates enhance our social studies courses.
  • Science classes build hydroponic gardens, launch rockets, and design parachutes for our annual egg drop.
  • Second grade students build the body systems out of recycled materials.

In addition to traditional subjects, Holy Family Catholic School provides dynamic instruction in resource classes.  Beginning in kindergarten, students attend weekly Spanish classes, culminating in three classes per week for our junior high.  These students find exceptional success in high school with the preparation they have received here at Holy Family.  Art classes explore various mediums and styles by creating marvelous works of art that have sold for more than thousands of dollars at our annual auction.  Each week, all HFCS students create multi-media projects in Technology classes, connect classroom instruction and media skills in Library classes and explore the genres and language of Music.  The health and well-being of our students is a primary focus and students attend Physical Education classes twice a week.
