The HFCS Administration, Faculty, and Staff wish you a joyous Christmas with many blessings as we look forward to the beginning of a new year together. School will be back in session on Tuesday, January 5, 2016.
The Holy Family PTO has the opportunity to raise an unlimited amount of money by promoting the sale of a PLAYERS Championship ticket product, known as
Chip In For Youth. You can purchase discounted “Good Any One Day” grounds tickets for $45 and help support the school; tickets sold to the general public start at $58 and are day specific. These tickets make wonderful last minute Christmas gifts. For more information, please see the attached flyer and visit the
Chip In For Youth website. When ordering, remember to use our code –
HOLYFAMILY.
The Northeast Florida Astronomical Society (
NEFAS) is hosting a
Stargazing Night coming up soon. Holy Family Astronomical Society members are encouraged to attend. Please note this is not a HoFAS field trip. If attending,
students must be accompanied by their family members during the event. December skies in Florida allow you to enjoy the Crab Nebula, Perseus Constellation, and a half moon, among other things. This is a public observing event, so feel free to invite friends and families.
There is a bake sale coming up soon to support
TeamKate.
Note from School Nurse: With Christmas vacation upon us, I wanted to take this opportunity to suggest some simple measures for you and your child to do in order to promote a safe, healthy, and happy holiday season:
Encourage frequent hand washing with soap and clean, running water or have hand sanitizer available.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze; or if no tissue is available, use your shoulder or elbow.
Promote healthy eating habits by having a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables on hand to munch on.
Encourage water (instead of soda or other sugary drinks) to prevent dehydration.
Try and keep a healthy balance of play and rest time, ideally keeping to your child’s regular sleep/ play schedule as much as possible
During colder temperatures, stay dry, and dress warmly in several layers and don’t forget hats to keep heads warm.
If traveling, be sure to buckle your child using a child safety seat, booster seat, or seat belt appropriate for his/her height, weight, and age.
And finally, do not share hats, hairbrushes, or pillows (because head lice is not fun).
I hope this helps. Merry Christmas and Many Healthy Blessings From Nurse Jessica J.
