Congratulations to the participants in the Northeast Florida Science and Engineering Fair:

• Liam (Engineering): Designing a Buoyant Wind Turbine Platform: 2^nd place in Engineering, Broadcom masters nominee (top middle school science and engineering competition), selected for the state team - representing the state of Florida.
• Daniel (Engineering): A Second Wind: 2^nd  place in Engineering.
• Madison (Engineering): Desalination: Taking the Salt Out of the Equation: 3^rd  place in Engineering.
• Jeanine (Physics): The Illusion of Light
• Allie (Biochemistry): Snacking on Calories: 3^rd place in biochemistry, inspiring excellence award ($25), excellence in innovation and creativity award ($50).
• Katie (Zoology): Time to Leave the Nest: Dr. Francisco Lorenzo-Luaces Memorial Award ($100 cash award) – Zoology.
• Pablo  (Botany): Tea Time is a Pest: 2^nd  place in Botany.
• Natalie (Biochemistry): Solids in Milk with a Little Brix: Honorable mention in Biochemistry.
• Natalie (Engineering): Loop the Loop
• Owen (Behavioral Science): The Impact of Distraction on Concentration While Playing a Video Game: 3^rd place in Behavioral Science 

 
8 ^th grade is selling Valentines for a service project in the gym foyer before school through Tuesday, February 14 ^th. The valentines are 50 cents for one or 3 for $1.00. Valentines will be delivered on St. Valentine’s Day. All proceeds go toward supporting childhood cancer research so participation is very greatly appreciated!
 
February is Dental Health Month.  The Pre-K and K classes will be visited by a dental hygienist from “Safari of Smiles” tomorrow. In addition, Nurse Jessica will visit the 1 ^st and 2 ^nd grade classes in the next couple of weeks to discuss the importance of dental hygiene. Students in these grades will receive a complementary “tooth bag” from “Safari of Smiles” including a toothbrush, holder, toothpaste, and timer. 
 
Bishop Snyder is hosting “Snyder 101” tomorrow for prospective students next year. Please call Mary Anne Briggs at (904) 908 – 8964 to RSVP. The day begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at noon. You will meet the administrative team, visit classrooms, and tour the facilities. Lunch is provided.
 
RISE UP presents A Deeper Night of Praise and Worship With Eucharistic Adoration this Friday, February 10 ^th at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, February 11 ^th at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free and all are welcome.
